The Road to Emmaus

The Road to Emmaus Lk 24: 13 - 35 Third Sunday of Easter Introduction Our reading is about the two disciples who were travelling to Emmaus. As they traveled, Jesus accompanies them and listens to their stories. As the night drew near, they beg Jesus to stay with them. There, while at table, in the breaking of the bread, they recognize Jesus who immediately vanishes from their sight. The Gospel Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, 14  and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15  While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, 16  but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17  And he said to them, “What are you discussing with each other while you walk along?” They stood still, looking sad. 18  Then one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only stranger in Jer...

My Lord and My God

My Lord and My God Jn 20: 19 – 31 Second Sunday of Easter Introduction In the gospel today, Jesus appears to the disciples who are holed up in a room for fear of the Jews. Jesus appears to them and gives them his peace and his Spirit. This gospel also recounts how Thomas who at first doubted the accounts about the risen Lord, believed as he saw for himself the wounds of the risen Lord. The Gospel 19  When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 20  After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21  Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” 22  When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23  If you forgive ...

He Has Risen!

He Has Risen! Jn 20: 1 – 9 Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord Introduction The Lord has risen! Halleluiah! Today’s reading recounts to us that early Sunday morning when Mary Magdalene and two of Jesus’ disciples discover the empty tomb. One of them believed in his heart that indeed the Lord has risen even without seeing the risen Lord. The Gospel Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2  So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3  Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. 4  The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5  He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but ...

The Father's Gift

#DAYLIGHT – Daily #MenofLight #GospelReflection December 25, 2019, Wednesday Gospel: Jn 1: 1 – 18 Sharer: Bro. Mike Lapid ++++++++++++++++++ The Gospel In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2  He was in the beginning with God. 3  All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being 4  in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. 5  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. 6  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7  He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. 8  He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. 9  The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10  He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. 1...
